Medication Assisted Treatment

Gateway offers VIVITROL or Buprenorphine Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to individuals seeking treatment for alcohol or opiate-use disorders. MAT is available to patients in conjunction with traditional residential, outpatient and continuing care. Patients interested in MAT may be evaluated while in detox, at assessment or by their counselor if they are already engaged in treatment services.

Patients are then evaluated by a physician to determine if medication is an appropriate treatment option. Patients that participate in the MAT program are required to adhere to their treatment recommendation and follow medical advice. The frequency of clinic appointments will be determined on an individual basis but will occur at least weekly in the beginning and no less than once a month. Patients are required to submit to random drug screens and pill counts.

Patients receiving medication also have the opportunity to attend treatment groups with others also receiving MAT. The MAT program has both a Case Manager and Peer Specialist to increase engagement and to help the patients meet their goals.
