Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)

POSITION OBJECTIVES

Perform medical assessments and other medical duties as required. Ensure quality client careMay be scheduled to work in a variety of substance abuse treatment programs that provide services to adults and adolescents in a residential setting with staff who perform assessment, intervention, prevention, individual and group therapy in Detox.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.  Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service.

2.  Participate in pass down report at the beginning and end of each shift.

3.  At the start of shift, check the daily assignment log.

4.  Responsible for ensuring the MSS/Lab are completing their daily duties.

5.  Provide drugs screens for walk in clients.

6.  Schedule appointments with outside physicians or clinics as needed.

7.  Assist with Lab draws if IV certified and proficient.

8.  Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the Provider.

9.  Provide coverage on unit as assigned.

10.  Verify and document all Provider orders in a timely manner.

11.  Assist MSS staff with showers, making client beds, serving meals as needed.

12.  Answer telephone and direct calls as needed.

13.  Perform admission assessments, route to RN.

14.  Determine client’s need for emergency medical assessment/treatment (referral to hospital) upon admission in collaboration with the Provider/on-call MD.

15.  Assist psychiatrist and other staff physicians as needed.

16.  Update the shift report sheet throughout the shift with essential information for patient care.

17.  Monitor the patients as ordered and PRN to ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, and adequate care.

18.  Review vital signs performed by support staff and obtain vital signs as needed.

19.  Facility requires all staff to be ?AWAKE? staff.

20.  Perform special projects and other Agency related assignments as requested.

 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

1.  Must be able to successfully complete CPI, CPR, First Aid, AIDs and Direct Service training within 90 days employment

2.  Must be eligible through DCF and AHCA with Level II Background checks throughout employment.

3.  Must abide by the organization’s Code of Conduct, policy and procedures, and state certification code of ethics.

4.  The ability to comply with equal employment opportunity requirements.

5.  Must complete all in-person and Relias trainings assigned during probation and throughout employment.

6.  Must practice universal precautions as part of regular job duties whenever applicable.

7.  Timely and regularly complete all required documentation, reports, and other organization-related paperwork.

8.  Must be able to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions using appropriate judgment.

9.  Maintain the work area clean and orderly, ensuring safe operating conditions.

10.  Must be able to take direction and guidance from managers and supervisors respectfully and function as an effective team member.

11.  Must have the ability to comply with a workplace of dignity and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

 

  • Graduate of a credentialed LPN/LVN certificate program
  • One year experience with chemical dependency of mental health population preferred. None required.
  • State of Florida LPN Licensure

  • Ability to relate to adolescents, adults, families, referral sources and internal Gateway Team Members.

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

  • General medical knowledge, some knowledge of addictions and psychiatric disorders preferred.
