Jacksonville native and seasoned businessman, David Hicks, Jr. is the founder and owner of Hummus Ventures and Moongate Kitchen, gourmet hummus company. Spending years perfecting a premier hummus recipe, Hicks will soon open Moongate Kitchen in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL featuring 16 flavors of nutritionally dense chick pea based food. Hicks attended The Bolles School in Jacksonville and graduated from The Taft School in Connecticut. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hicks moved to London in 1997 with Security Capital Corp. and later assembled the largest self storage company in Europe, which later sold in 2007. An enthusiast for fresh and healthy food, Hicks traveled around Europe and Africa studying the culinary cultures of Morocco, Italy, France and other countries. During his travel aboard, Hicks discovered the healthy benefits of hummus and eventually lost 25 pounds. After developing over a dozen hummus recipes, Hicks plans to open Moongate Kitchen in summer 2018. Hicks currently lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Margaret. Together, they have three children.
